The Study of Regulation and Public Policy in Tourism( 觀光政策與法規研討 ) ( 3 )
Important existing regulations and public policies in tourism are evaluated in this course. The decision-making process, the execution, and the implication of regulations and public policies are discussed in various case studies. Students are expected to posses critical and creative thinking of regulation and public policy in tourism.
The Study of Strategic Management in Tourism Industry (觀光策略管理研究) ( 3 )
This course is to facilitate the discussion of development of strategic management. With the use of various case studies, the philosophy and implication of strategic management to tourism industry are discussed in class. Students are expected to takes turn in leading the class discussion.
Qualitative Research Method ( 質性研究方法 ) (3)
Different researches require different methods. Whether a research has used
statistics or numbers should not be served as a criterion of its merit.
However, the training of qualitative research has long been ignored in
recreation, leisure and tourism field. Many have a wrong idea that as long
as the research without using statistics and numbers can be classified as a
qualitative research. This is far from truth. In fact, it is impossible
for a researcher to conduct a sound research (no matter it is a quantitative
or qualitative one) without proper training. Therefore, it is the purpose
of this course is to familiar students with the qualitative research method.
This course will focus primarily on the following subjects:
What is the qualitative research;
The theory of interpretation;
The concepts of Scientism;
Hermeneutics and the qualitative research;
Critical theory and the qualitative research; and
How to apply the qualitative research in recreation, leisure and tourism research ? |
